Indiana lawmakers are scrambling to reach deals on a new budget and a fix for the state’s unemployment fund as a midnight deadline for adjourning the session loomed.
Republican Senate leader David Long of Fort Wayne said lawmakers were close on both issues, but no final compromises had been struck.
Leaders of the Republican-ruled Senate and Democrat-led House met with Republican Gov. Mitch Daniels Wednesday morning to discuss the issues.
