Fifteen years ago, Mark Parkinson became a rising star in Kansas politics. A Republican state senator mentioned as a future governor or a U.S. senator.
Ambitious. Smart. Not afraid of standing out.
But Parkinson, who’s from Olathe, turned his back on politics 13 years ago and became a businessman. He and his wife, Stacy, raised three children and developed a successful chain of nursing homes. He stayed involved behind the scenes, even serving as state GOP chairman.
