There a few can’t lose propositions in legislative politics – open government is one of them. Make a note.
Public officials would not be able to conduct a meeting over a series of phone calls or e-mails under a proposed law.Multiple newspapers and the Kansas Press Association told the Senate Judiciary Committee on Thursday that they supported Senate Bill 621.The measure would close a “significant loophole in the law regarding what constitutes a public meeting in the state of Kansas,” the press association said in written testimony.
The city of Wichita, the League of Kansas Municipalities and the Kansas Association of Counties opposed the idea.
