Our sources in Mississippi lead us to believe that there’s a very good chance that the Dickie Scruggs indictment the other day will really toss a stinky in the punch bowl, if you will, for some of the folks who are viewed as potentially viable candidates for the Lott seat. Mississippi politics just got a whole “Lott” more interesting with these two events. Looks like Mississippi might need a new member for this dynamic duo.
Even the venue of how the succession to Lott is to be handled is in dispute. It has been reported that if the senator quits before the first of the year, the resultant special election to fill the vacancy will be held within 90 days.
