NJ: Lawmakers Want in on Furloughs February 20, 2009

Good politics.  From APP.com:

Corzine’s announcement Tuesday indicated all state employees would be furloughed — though frequently, such dictates from governors are interpreted as applying to state government’s executive branch, not the Legislature or state judiciary. There’s a hands-off tradition between the branches; for instance, the specifics of budgeting for the judicial and legislative branches isn’t handled by the governor.

But just for good measure, Senate President Richard Codey and Assembly Speaker Joe Roberts announced that the Senate and Assembly majority and minority offices will be furloughed, too. Their GOP counterparts, Sen. Tom Kean Jr. and Assm. Alex DeCroce, quickly concurred.
